Pro Football Hall of Famer Olsen dies (AP)

Merlin Olsen, a Hall of Fame defensive lineman and member of the Los Angeles Rams' "Fearsome Foursome" who followed up football with a successful television career in "Little House on the Prairie," NFL broadcasts and commercials, has died. He was 69. Utah State, Olsen's alma mater, said he died outside of Los Angeles early Thursday after battling cancer.

The Cleveland Browns are hosting Jake Delhomme and maybe dangling Brady Quinn. Guilty verdict in Darrent Williams trial (AP)

Suspected gang member Willie Clark was found guilty of murder Thursday in the drive-by shooting death of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams. A jury returned the verdict after an 11-day trial and a day and a half of deliberation. Clark showed no emotion as the verdict was read, but leaned back and looked at the ceiling once the jury was dismissed.
Tomlinson meeting with Vikings (AP)

LaDainian Tomlinson is in Minnesota meeting with the Vikings about joining Adrian Peterson in what would be a big-name backfield. Tomlinson arrived in the Twin Cities on Wednesday night and dined with Vikings officials. He had more meetings scheduled for Thursday to talk about how he would fit in with the Vikings.
Bengals re-sign DT Johnson for 4 years (AP)

Defensive tackle Tank Johnson has signed a four-year deal to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals. Johnson started 13 games last season despite a case of plantar faciitis in his right foot that limited his mobility and caused a lot of pain. He felt better as the season went along, and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles in a playoff loss to the Jets.

Chiefs sign former Cardinals WR Urban (AP)

The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired free agent wide receiver Jerheme Urban, who spent the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Urban has 87 catches for 1,231 yards in a career that started in 2003 with the Seattle Seahawks. He has played in six postseason games, including the Super Bowl.
Lions re-sign OT Jansen, LB Ciurciu (AP)

The Detroit Lions have added depth on both sides of the ball. Detroit re-signed offensive tackle Jon Jansen and linebacker Vinny Ciurciu to one-year contracts Thursday. Jansen started twice and played in 11 games last season for the Lions. Ciurciu helped out on special teams in nine games last season for them.

QB Anderson apologizes for remarks (AP)

Like one of his errant passes, quarterback Derek Anderson sent a rocket at Browns fans he wishes he could take back. Anderson apologized to Cleveland fans Wednesday after calling them "ruthless" and adding they "don't deserve a winner" following his release by the team. Anderson was let go by the Browns on Tuesday, ending an uneven five-year stint.
